WHAT IS THE BEAM SIZE CALCULATOR?

The Beam Size Calculator is used to easily calculate the size of a projector light beam for a given projected image size.
The calculator allows the user to specify the required image size and up to four locations from the projector lens to be analysed.
The report illustrates the calculated width and height of the beam at each of the specifed locations.

DATA ENTRY


In order to create the report, the Beam Size Calculator needs some information about the project. Cinema Tools does not store or record any data that is entered into this form.

ID DETAILS


Project Name:
Enter the project name so that the report can be easily identified
Prepared By:
Enter the name of the person creating the report
Calculation Units:
Select the measurement units that will be used in the other form fields

Calculation Based On:
Select if data to be entered in the Value field refers to the width, height or diagonal of the target image size
Value:
Enter the target screen size using the units selected under Calculation Units
Screen Aspect:
Enter the Aspect Ratio of the target screen for example 1.78, 2.37
Throw Distance:
Enter the distance between the front of the projector lens and the projector screen using the units selected under Calculation Units
MEASUREMENT POINTS
The calculator allows data for up to four distances to be entered. Where less than four distances are required, leave the unused fields blank and they will be ignored by the calculator.
The reference point for the distance should be the projector lens.
Distance from Lens:
Enter the distance from lens to the required calculation point using the units selected under Calculation Units

The Title page of the report is used to show:
Calculator Name: Beam Size
Project Name: As entered on the data entry page
Prepared By: As entered on the data entry page

Page 2 – Beam Size: Top View

The Beam Size Top View page of the report is used to show the width of the projected image beam at the requested measurment points.
The right hand data bar details:
Screen Width in mm and inches
Screen Height in mm and inches
Screen Diagonal in mm and inches
Screen Aspect Ratio
Beam Width in mm and inches at Measuring Point in mm and inches

Page 3 – Beam Size: Side View


The Beam Size Side View page of the report is used to show the height of the projected image beam at the requested measurment points.
The right hand data bar details:
Screen Width in mm and inches
Screen Height in mm and inches
Screen Diagonal in mm and inches
Screen Aspect Ratio
Beam Height in mm and inches at Measuring Point in mm and inches
